Photos from November 2007: Thanksgiving and Tahoe

I finally pulled out the camera in early November, for some cute shots of the kids, who were being very goofy when I asked them to smile:

Since the summer I've been taking the kids to school and around town in a bike trailer, so I decided it was time to capture some photos of them in it. This time, Serafina pulled her mouth into a silly shape when I asked her to smile, and Toby decided to copy her. Thus began a trend: for the next couple weeks, whenever we tried to get a picture of Toby, he'd stick his fingers in his mouth and make a face.

For Thanksgiving, we hosted dinner at our house, with our friend Robert joining us, along with two friends of Serafina's from pre-school (Paris and Madoc), along with their families. At one point before dinner was ready, the kids paraded through the house in costume. Here you can see Serafina with Madoc behind her, and Serafina and Paris hugging:

Here's Robert getting excited about the turkey:

And at the table we have Amy and Anthony (Paris' parents), Isabel (Madoc's mom) holding baby Brynn, and Geoff:

Then on the other side were Geoff, Alex (Madoc's dad), and Robert:

At the kids' table we had Toby, Serafina, Madoc, Paris, and her brother Dante. Serafina was very excited to be host of the kids' table, setting out crayons and paper for each kid, and asking me to blow up balloons to tie to each chair, on which she wrote the kid's name and drew a picture for each:

The day after Thanksgiving we drove up to Truckee, California (near Lake Tahoe) to stay with our friends David and Eddie in their house there. There was no snow, but it was cold and frosty. The kids didn't have a lot of energy for hiking, but we had fun. And Toby loved their dog Max:

On the way home we stopped in Sacramento and went to the Train Museum (very impressive) and rode on a special Christmas steam train (not so impressive, as we ride trains all the time.) Here we are sitting at a table in the dining car. Toby at last seems to have learned to smile for pictures:
