Discover The Catskills
For a day built around Catskills views, start in Hunter with the Hunter Mountain Scenic SkyRide, a summit ride with wide open views that instantly makes the weekend feel like a true getaway. If youโre after a slower pace, head to Narrowsburg for Delaware River scenery and overlooks, then let the afternoon unfold with a relaxed walk and a golden hour moment by the water. Back at your Red Cottage home, settle in for a cozy evening with a fire, a great meal, and a little extra time to simply relax.
The Catskillsโ creative side is a major draw, especially for guests looking for something elevated and memorable. In Woodstock, spend an hour at the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum, a local institution that keeps the townโs art heritage feeling current. For a second stop that feels truly iconic, add Opus 40, an outdoor art experience where sculpture and landscape come together in a way that feels distinctly Catskills.
Between plans, explore a few Catskills towns and keep the weekend effortless. Saugerties is a great pick for a walkable afternoon of shops, antiques, and a casual meal that still feels curated. Margaretville is quieter and scenic, ideal for slow mornings, local browsing, and a drive that feels like part of the experience. If you want a classic mountain town vibe, Windham is a reliable choice, especially for fresh air, easy hikes in warmer months, and a ski day atmosphere in winter.
When you want a true outdoor reset without turning the day into a mission, Willowemoc Wild Forest near Livingston Manor is a strong choice, with trails, ponds, and a variety of routes that make it easy to tailor the day to your pace. If youโre closer to Narrowsburg, the Tusten Mountain Trail is a great pick for a hike with rewarding views that is ideal before a relaxed evening back at your Red Cottage stay.
A Catskills weekend is also easy to build around what you want to sip. In Callicoon, Seminary Hill Orchard and Cidery is a standout for a tasting experience that pairs beautifully with a relaxed lunch. Callicoon Brewing Company is another easy stop when you want something casual that still feels destination-worthy. In Livingston Manor, Upward Brewing Company is a go-to for drinks with a view, where the setting is a big part of the appeal.
Base your plans around Hunter for skiing and riding, then keep the rest of the itinerary simple with cozy coffees, scenic drives, and a slow afternoon in. For a lighter option, add tubing or a short snowy walk to round out the day. After time outside, the luxury is coming back to your Red Cottage home to warmth, a great meal, and a cozy night in.
In Hunter, plan a mountain lodge dinner at Prospect at Scribnerโs, in a setting that feels special from the moment you arrive. In Woodstock, make it a proper night out at Silvia, a wood-fired, vegetable-forward favorite that feels elevated without trying too hard. For something lively and fun, The Bear Cantina is an easy pick when you want a more energetic dinner scene. In Livingston Manor, keep it cozy and polished at The Kaatskeller, a great option for dinner and cocktails.
