Really great country house. The owner obviously made very specific choices for decor. We loved it, but I would say it’s on the more adventuresome side for sure. The outside is lovely! Pool is fantastic, super clean. A lot of space and they have a tennis court. The area is really nice. Close to the city, but you really feel away from everything. The house was very clean and they had everything you need like shampoo, body wash, towels, etc. Kitchen also well stocked. We had a small issue outside and the management company was fast to act on it and they made it right with us when they couldn’t fix something during our stay. Would definitely rent this place again.
Our stay was great! A few recommendations to make the place awesome:
– the access to the water is very treacherous (steep and muddy even though it hadn’t rained in days). It would be impossible to safely carry down the canoe. To let guests have better access to this I would recommend putting in gravel/rocks or wood steps into the hill.
– wine glasses!! We couldn’t find any in the home.
– the remote for the tv was dead. I think it’s solar powered but it wasn’t working even after putting in sun
– a screen door to the porch would be amazing. We wanted to keep bugs out and the glass door is soooo heavy to open and close all the time
– we weren’t able to get the tiki torches to light for the bug repellant – may have been user error though.
Otherwise we had a wonderful stay!!
If you’re looking to escape the city and immerse yourself in nature, the Red Cottage is ideal! The house is stunning, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The pool is a fantastic bonus- we spent hours relaxing by it. The surrounding area is peaceful and quiet, perfect for unwinding. The host was incredibly responsive and made our stay seamless, answering all our questions promptly. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat.
A very enjoyable stay for our family annual vacation. The house could easily accommodate 8-9 adults, 2 kids under 7 and 2 dogs. Biggest plus of the house was its easy walk to the Saco River through a lovely meadow. Communication with host was easy – they were very responsive to our needs.

We had a great experience at the Red Cottage. The amenities were as stated. The kitchen and living area was laid out beautifully. The appliances were all high end and everything you would need was there at your fingertips. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Always love having a washer and dryer, and theirs was top end. The house is an upside down house with the bedrooms on the bottom and living space on the top floor. Upstairs was light filled with big picture windows to bring in the light and great wooded views. A perfect house for a stay and we would highly recommend it and return again if we are in the area.
We enjoyed our week at Myer’s Ridge! Had space for 3 families – with bedrooms and bathrooms on 3 levels we each had our own space which was nice. Having a crib and high chair was helpful and there were lots of clean, high quality toys for the little ones. The salt water pool was amazing. The wading area that led to the deeper end was perfect and was a nice surprise. The grill, chairs, umbrellas, and tables were all in great condition and allowed us to spend a lot of time outdoors. The large porch was great and we liked that it had gates at both ends. That area could have been a little cleaner but otherwise was a good place to hang out. You can see neighbors behind the house but the property is very secluded. We were surprised that there weren’t curtains on the bathroom windows but made do by hanging a towel. BBQ from the General Store nearby was very good. We were very pleased with the house and would stay again in the future.
Well-appointed, comfortable home. Space was perfect for 2 adults and 3 teens. The house is remote, very quiet and relaxing. The house sits on a body of water that feeds into Sleepy Hollow Lake, the water is very murky off the dock so we couldn’t swim as we would have liked. Kayaks and canoes were used often, as was the record player and great collection of vinyl. Communication with host was easy and all questions were answered quickly.
An absolutely GORGEOUS property set in a charming wooded area. The entire home is updated like new—modern with charm! Great flow on the upper floor with open concept kitchen, dining, and living. Downstairs has cute second living room, a darling bedroom, and second bath with shower. Bed was super comfortable, and the AC and ceiling fans cooled the entire house. But the best part about the cozy home is its locale: It is perfectly located at the border of Columbia and Dutchess Counties, so you can explore towns any way the compass points! And the roads are so wonderful. All paved, all quiet, all ensconced in bucolic beauty! We will most definitely be back! Don’t miss this upstate retreat!
Such a beautiful home, everything was great!
Went to see our son at Forestburg Playhouse and had friends/family coming as well. This place is perfect, fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds and pillows, beautiful bathrooms, windows everywhere to enjoy the woods and the lake, cozy areas, great game room and tv room as well the outside garden area was our go to for the mornings! and the outside dining area out back was our dinner go to! this place was perfect, quiet, clean, and close to several of the small towns in the area. We saw baby bears, wild turkeys, porcupines and deer! Only thing we could ask for is more time there to just relax – we were busy with shows, hiking, exploring towns and even having the chance to see Woodstock! a must!!!!
If this home is available definitely book it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s a perfect place to enjoy the quiet, wooded area as well explore.

Had an AMAZING stay at red cottage. Was definitely the cleanest and coolest air b&b I’ve ever stayed in! The location was quiet and secluded but 5 minutes from town and close to hikes and great restaurants / attractions. The place was absolutely spotless and exactly as pictured. I wish we stayed long enough to take advantage of the amazing kitchen and outdoor space. Beds were comfy and black out shades were so great! The host was responsive and pleasant when I asked some pre check in questions. Everything was so seamless, I hope to visit again soon!
Beautiful valley and mountain vistas made for nice scenery throughout our stay. The outdoor fire pit was a lovely touch and perfect for evening relaxation. The cottage itself is newly updated, stocked and cozy, and despite its size, it comfortably sleeps six adults.
One thing future guests should know: the listing could be clearer about the property setup. There are two other homes on the property – one large house and one smaller one – located about a few hundred feet from this cottage, so it’s not the secluded getaway it might appear to be. The shared driveway means you may see other cars in the shared driveway. While this didn’t ruin our experience, it would be helpful for the listing to set proper expectations about the shared nature of the property for anyone seeking complete privacy.

Amazing cottage for a perfect getaway out of the city. The house is beautiful and the place very pleasant. Would recommend to anyone who’d like to take some rest and enjoy calm and peace in the middle of the forest. The terrace is great and many hikes are accessible close to the place. Gorgeous sparkling property. Check-in was easy. Kitchen was lovely. It does need a few more cooking essentials.
This home was great for a large group of people, sort of felt like a ski lodge— lots of places for groups to gather and comfortably talk inside and outside.
PROS: The beds were incredibly comfortable with lots of fluffy pillows and down comforters. The kitchen is stocked well enough to get through a short-term stay. We made several meals in including grilling burgers for 6 people.
Great laundry room, plenty of parking and close to town. FANTASTIC VIEWS.
CONS: Although there are plenty of bedrooms, take note that the showers are limited to two in the entire home. Also note, there is only a regular coffee pot, no Keurig machine.

Leeds Longhouse is so very beautiful and the perfect place to unplug. The house is sleekly modern and rustic as well – it reminded me of Scandinavian style homes in my native Seattle. We appreciated the overall design and the care taken in selecting high quality materials with beautiful details. The artwork was a surprise bonus. The house is very private – just us, fresh brewed coffee and a stunning mountain view by day, and stars by night. We enjoyed the recommended restaurants, Julia’s in particular.
